Health & Wellness

Within the Orthodox understanding, body and soul are formed together. These are the areas where a young person most needs preparation to live a balanced and holy life.

Eight areas of formation

Alongside movement, students receive systematic instruction in physical and mental health — the areas where a young person most needs formation to live a balanced and holy life:

Body image

Seeing the body as God's creation, neither idol nor enemy.

Healthy nutrition

Eating well — and learning what the Church's fasting rhythm teaches about appetite.

Emotional regulation

Naming, understanding, and governing the passions.

Substance abuse prevention

Clear-eyed preparation before the age of exposure.

Virtuous relationships

Friendship, courtesy, and love ordered toward the good of the other.

Puberty & reproduction

Taught truthfully and reverently, within the Church's understanding of the person.

Technology & social media

Addiction prevention and the disciplines of attention.

Possessions & financial literacy

A rightly ordered relationship to money and material things — stewardship, generosity, and practical financial skills.
